Fellowship of the Concerned
Connectional Ministries
Welcome to the Fellowship of The Concerned (FOC), a ministry founded by the Reverend James E. Hankins. The FOC, as Jim affectionately called it, is an e-mail group list which contains news and prayer requests from around the Holston Conference of The United Methodist Church.
Reverend Hankins and his wife, Virginia, served and retired in the Holston Conference. He had a special love for the small churches located in rural communities. He was affectionately known as the chairman of the “Kitchen Cabinet,” as he was so tuned to the happenings of the Holston Conference that he predicted with great accuracy where ministers would be assigned to churches. Rev. Hankins, along with 6 other Methodist ministers, founded the Holston Methodist Federal Credit Union in 1957.
The Holston Conference is honored to continue this ministry in memory of Rev. Hankins, who passed away in May of 2002.
